Moisture Mapping Soil and Plant Moisture Monitoring
Introduction
Moisture mapping is the process of measuring and mapping the spatial distribution of soil moisture content. It is a valuable tool for optimizing irrigation, understanding plant water status, and assessing drought risk.
How do you use a moisture reader for plants?
Soil moisture readers are commonly used to monitor soil moisture content for plant irrigation. To use a soil moisture reader:
- Insert the probe of the reader into the soil at the desired depth.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Remove the reader and interpret the reading based on the manufacturer’s instructions.
For plant moisture monitoring, leaf moisture meters can be used to assess plant water status. To use a leaf moisture meter:
- Place the sensor of the meter on the leaf surface.
- Hold the sensor in place for a few seconds.
- Remove the sensor and interpret the reading based on the manufacturer’s instructions.
